Rendered in a warm ivory-toned cast material, the stylized Arabian head has the streamlined, almost Art Deco quality associated with Stevens’ Western work.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOne side of the base is impressed \u003cstrong\u003e“W.K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Inst. Pomona Calif.”\u003c\/strong\u003e, while the reverse reads \u003cstrong\u003e“Lawrence Tenney Stevens Sculptor.”\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eStevens was an accomplished American sculptor and \u003cstrong\u003e1922 Rome Prize recipient\u003c\/strong\u003e, later becoming particularly known for his depictions of Western animals and his role in the development of what became known as Cowboy High Style. \u003cspan class=\"contents\"\u003e\u003cspan class=\"\"\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOf particular note, Stevens created a small head study of the celebrated Arabian stallion \u003cstrong\u003e*Raseyn at the Kellogg Ranch in 1934\u003c\/strong\u003e.
