A tiny captain with very serious business at sea.

This vintage hand-carved wooden sailor is full of folk-art charm, dressed in a dark double-breasted coat, white trousers and a jaunty sailor’s cap. The faceted carving, painted details and slightly stern expression give him exactly the kind of personality we want from something standing six-ish inches tall on a shelf.

Mounted on a simple wood base and carved “HANNAH” underneath, he has the wonderfully imperfect finish of a piece made by hand rather than machine. Great tucked into a bookshelf, perched beside a stack of old books, or added to a collection of maritime oddities.
