This vintage Vestal pottery vase, made in Portugal, is a wonderfully exuberant example of traditional Alcobaça-style ceramics. The sculptural body is finished in dreamy washes of blue and cream, with hand-painted pink roses, green foliage and tiny floral accents across the rounded panels.
The real star is the form: ornate scrolling handles, a dramatically shaped rim and four chunky feet give it an almost rococo silhouette. All-over crazing to the glaze adds the kind of age and texture that only time can provide.
Marked Vestal / Portugal on the underside. Beautiful with flowers, branches, or entirely on its own.
