A small but wonderfully theatrical vintage wall match holder by Wilton, cast in iron with openwork scrolls and hand-painted details in green, yellow and rust. The lower pocket was designed to hold matches close to the stove or fireplace, while the ornate upper section turns a practical object into a tiny piece of folk-art architecture.
The symmetrical creatures look somewhere between birds, dragons and something guarding a very small castle. Mount it on the wall for matches, notes or any miniature household item currently wandering loose.
