A bird, a bunch of fruit, and absolutely no interest in subtlety.
This wonderfully strange vintage Czechoslovakian ceramic wall pocket features a dimensional bird perched over a cluster of plump fruit and sculpted green leaves. Finished in softly airbrushed shades of peach, coral, yellow, sage and smoky blue, it has that dreamy, slightly surreal quality that makes early Czech pottery so good.
The bird projects dramatically from the front, while the open pocket behind it is ready for flowers, dried stems, or nothing at all. Frankly, it has enough going on.
The reverse is stamped with the collectible red circular “Made in Czechoslovakia” mark, commonly referred to by collectors as the “red dime” mark, and impressed with mold number 5860.
