A swan, a wave, a cornucopia. Subtlety was clearly not on the agenda.

This vintage McCoy Pottery Swan cornucopia vase, dating to the 1940s, is a wonderfully sculptural piece of American art pottery. Finished in McCoy’s glossy aqua glaze, the sweeping form curls upward into a stylized swan-and-lily silhouette with all the exaggerated curves we want from the era.

The design has a distinctly Art Deco feel, with fluid lines and a strong architectural shape that makes it just as good empty as it is filled with flowers. A particularly beautiful piece for a shelf, mantel, or anywhere that could use a little more drama.
