Vintage Mexican Tonalá-Style Bird Vase
A bird with excellent posture and absolutely no interest in blending in. This vintage Mexican pottery vase takes the form of a tall, stylized bird, with a rounded body, elongated neck, and curved beak-like opening.
Hand-painted in earthy black, charcoal, rust-orange, and cream, the surface is covered in graphic florals, berries, spirals, and geometric details. The warm palette and softly burnished finish give it the primitive-modern look that makes Mexican folk pottery so good: sculptural, soulful, and just odd enough to become the most interesting thing on the shelf.
Style it as a standalone sculpture or add a few dried stems. Unsigned, but consistent in form and decoration with traditional Tonalá-style Mexican pottery.
Vintage condition with surface wear, glaze variation, and handmade irregularities throughout. There appears to be a small chip or area of loss at the opening; please review all photos closely.
