Vintage Tonalá Mexican Pottery Owl Sculpture
This wise guy has eyes in the front, flowers in the back, and absolutely no bad angles.
Handcrafted in the Tonalá pottery tradition of Mexico, this vintage owl features a softly rounded form, oversized spiral eyes, petite feet, and a dimensional pointed beak. The neutral gray and cream surface is hand-painted in black, charcoal, and warm ochre, with sweeping feather-like lines across the face and a large stylized floral design covering the reverse.
Substantial without taking over the room, it’s an excellent bookshelf companion, tabletop sculpture, or designated watcher of the bar cart. The hollow pottery form includes a firing or vent hole on the underside and appears to be hand-marked by the maker.
Vintage condition with natural clay and glaze variation, light scratches, paint wear, small surface losses, and imperfections consistent with age and handmade construction. Please review all photos closely.
